7:00 – 8:15 PM
Classes take place at: Collective Soul Space
Lower Level, Scotia Centre
Though technically happening on December 22nd at 17:49 in the Northern Hemisphere, we are celebrating the full moon on the eve of the Winter Solstice at Collective Soul Space. Note that this month, the practice will be a bit longer in honour of the Solstice. The full moon in December is referred to as the Cold Moon (and it certainly is reflective of our temps here in Yellowknife!) Interestingly, it’s also referred to as the “Long Night Moon”, so it seems auspicious that this year’s full moon falls a day after the Winter Solstice – the longest night/shortest day of the year!
It is said that at the time of the full moon, our glandular system experiences a particular pressure that invites deep healing work of emotions that are often very close to the surface or sometimes subconscious; meditation at this time is considered to be particularly beneficial. From the time of the full moon to the upcoming new moon is considered to be a time to go into reflection, planning, and inner healing work.
In the tradition of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®, there are a couple of particularly powerful meditations meant to be practised at the time of the full moon: the Antar Naad Mudra for Full Moon and The Ring of Tantric Healing (if at least 11 people are in attendance).
Join Maureen for a 75-minute practice for an extra-special time of contemplation, meditation with mantra, and a sound healing with the gong. Preregistration is encouraged, as we need at least 11 people for this to be a ‘go’.
If registering online, you’ll be charged $11. If wishing to use your CSS punch pass, just send an email to email@example.com OR to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This session is ‘pay what you can’. You may choose to pay cash, or use your CSS punch pass. Minimum $10 requested. 100% of the monies collected go to local charity, with this month’s collection going to the Yellowknife Food Bank.
